Klassiske Dage, Holstebro International Music Festival, takes place from Monday 30 September to Sunday 6 October 2024. The festival's focus in 2024 is Holstebro's 750th anniversary around Holstebro: "The town with the Great Bridge over Storå", where the festival celebrates music's outstanding bridge-building, which is illuminated for people of all ages historically, geographically, across disciplines, with a variety of genres and always with a special focus on new talents, children and young people. The festival can be experienced from Aarhus in the east to Thorsminde in the west. Klassiske Dage also looks forward to marking the 20th anniversary of the thorough renovation and donation of "Knudsens", the lovely concert hall from the year 1900 with an incomparable and exceptional acoustic, which is the heart and home of the festival, and which was given as a gift to the citizens of Holstebro Municipality in 2004 by Inger and Valdemar Birn. Both are celebrated with a "festival within the festival": Giacometti is honoured with concerts, artist talks, masterclasses and commissioned works, in collaboration with a broad selection of local and regional institutions, museums, churches and associations. 2024 also offers the premiere of an expanded anniversary version of Sigurd Barrett's children's concert with Det Kgl Teaters Balletskole, Holstebro and 500 children from the municipality's schools. Sigurd creates a special performance focusing on Holstebro and writes "Marens sang", with a loving reference to Giacometti's statue, "Maren", the town's oldest and finest cultural ambassador. With music we also celebrate several of the personalities and patrons who have strongly shaped the town and left an indelible legacy with a decisive impact.
