We safeguard classical music, and communicate it to a broad audience We are a classical music festival in Sorø – an association that, through a series of concerts, tries to safeguard classical music and its artists and to communicate the music to a broad audience. Through approx. 15 concerts a year we try to put together a broad bouquet of offerings for everyone who loves music and is looking for a good concert experience. Using the traditional concert form, concerts for children, experimental interdisciplinary concerts, opera concerts and large symphony and oratorio concerts, we try to show different genres within the classical field. We consist of supporting members and a board, who on a voluntary basis take on the work of arranging the concerts and seeking financial support to hold them. Our history The festival was started by Knud Vad, organist at Sorø Klosterkirke. The start-up was in 1969, with the 1st season in 1970 under the original name Sorø Orgelfestival.
