At Hvide Sande Masterclass 2021 you will have the chance to hear highly accomplished classical music at 9 public concerts. The music is performed by the masterclass professors and this year's outstanding participants. The participants in Hvide Sande Masterclass 2021 will be selected by the masterclass professors from among the very greatest young classical talents in Denmark and abroad.
The focus will be on chamber music ensemble playing, and the professors will coach while taking part in the ensembles themselves, both in rehearsals and in concerts. Children and young people are invited to attend rehearsals and concerts freely, and there will be an educational introduction for them and for all other listeners.
Over 15 years, Hvide Sande Masterclass has established its name as a powerhouse for communicating classical music, and for building knowledge of it among a new audience in West Jutland. Here the experience of the beautiful, rugged landscape is combined in the best possible way with experiences of classical music at a high national and international level.
Here, young classical talents from the Danish music conservatoires, meeting other young musicians from all over the world, have found inspiration for further studies through personal friendships, chamber music ensemble playing and the many joint concerts, made possible by the stays and studies with the outstanding professors at Hvide Sande Masterclass.
Audiences from all over the country, and tourists, have flocked here year after year to attend the many concerts and the open teaching at Hvide Sande Masterclass. The intention is to continue and strengthen this work by holding Hvide Sande Masterclass - also in 2021.
It is a great pleasure for me to be allowed to welcome you all to Hvide Sande Masterclass 2021. You, the hopeful, young, hand-picked musician who has struggled to learn all the many difficult works. You, dear professor, who bring your many years of experience from countless concerts and hours with your instrument. And of course you, who come to experience the music in full bloom in a completely different kind of concert hall.
I hope you will have a life-affirming musical experience that you can look forward to (re)experiencing and look back on with joy.
Sigrid Kongshøj-Munch is project manager at Hvide Sande Masterclass. She was born in 1990 and trained as a violist and violinist, music communicator and music educator at Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium, where she completed her master's degree in 2015. She has played numerous solo, chamber music and orchestral concerts and premieres, and has made recordings as well as TV and theatre productions. Sigrid plays in Trio con Spirito. She has played with DR Symfoniorkester, Det Kongelige Kapel, Copenhagen Phil and Aalborg Symfoniorkester, and has been employed as a violist in Ensemble Storstrøm on a six-month contract. Since August 2018 she has held a permanent position at Tårnby musikskole.
