Folkehjem is a Danish assembly hall in Aabenraa, which was acquired by Sprogforeningen in 1900. Until then it had been called Schweizerhalle. In 1910-1911, under the direction of the architects Johannes Magdahl Nielsen and Jep Fink, the building was extended and housed, among other things, meeting rooms, lending and reading rooms and a restaurant. At a meeting in Folkehjem in November 1918 the South Jutland politician H.P. Hanssen demanded the South Jutlanders' right to national self-determination. Folkehjem became a self-governing institution in 1965. At Folkehjem there is the picture gallery with portraits of leading figures on the Danish side in the nationality conflict between Danish and German in South Jutland in the 1800s.
