Herlufsholm Skole og Gods is a foundation established in 1565. Herlufsholm is a former monastery that is now a boarding and day school. Herlufsholm lies in Næstved down by the Suså river, where it is surrounded by fields and forests. Here the nobleman Peder Bodilsen founded a Benedictine monastery, Skovkloster, in 1135. After the Reformation the king took over Skovkloster, and after an exchange with what was then Frederiksborg Castle, Herluf Trolle and Birgitte Gøye took over the monastery and changed its name to Herlufsholm in 1560. By a deed of foundation they established Herlufsholm as a school in 1565. Source: Wikipedia (Herlufsholm)
