Christian Grøvlen

Description

One of the country's foremost pianists is ready for the Sandvika Master Series, with Grieg, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and his own works on the programme If there is one thing Christian Grøvlen is passionate about, it is communicating music. Whether as a piano soloist, chamber musician or director of KODE's composer homes in Bergen, there is a rock-solid foundation underneath it all. Grøvlen has been a soloist with both the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Opera Orchestra in Oslo, and is a sought-after accompanist. The programme this Wednesday evening features works by Grieg, Rachmaninoff, Chopin as well as selected preludes composed by Grøvlen himself. Here the audience gets a broad range of expression: from passionate and stormy works to lyrical and understated pieces. Aftenposten's Mona Levin has called him “the last in a shining line of Norwegian piano phenomena”. There will be a concert introduction in the Foyer Stage at 18:00 by Hilde Holbæk-Hanssen. Programme: Grieg / Ballade, Op. 24 Chopin / Andante spianato and Grande polonaise brillante, Op. 22 Grøvlen / Pan Rachmaninoff / Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 36 (1931 version)
