Music and Preparedness

Bjørn Sagstad

Description

The role and importance of music for preparedness and defence capability – an evening of inspiration and concert. On the occasion of the Total Defence Year 2026 and as a conclusion to Asker Kulturråd's 50th anniversary, you are welcome to an evening of inspiring and instructive talks about the importance of music for our shared preparedness and defence capability. The evening concludes with a concert with Kongelige Norske Marines Musikkorps. The cultural centre's bar is open from 18.00. When the Marinemusikken visits Asker kulturhus, it will be a festive evening filled with familiar and beloved classical music, virtuoso solo performances and musical entertainment of the finest kind. Here the audience will experience both grand orchestral works and sparkling joy in music – performed by one of Norway's foremost professional wind bands. The programme includes the breakneck virtuoso Overture from Ruslan and Ludmila by Mikhail Glinka, Ravel's mighty and hypnotic Boléro and Shostakovich's popular Waltz No. 2. There will also be a tasteful dose of British festivity with music from the traditional Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. The audience will hear Fantasia on British Sea Songs and Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1. Programme: Glinka / Overture from Ruslan and Ludmila Ravel / Boléro Shostakovich / Waltz No. 2 Fantasia on British Sea Songs Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1
