Description
The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi is the world's most popular work of classical music. Experience this fantastic work with five of Norway's foremost musicians. Antonio Vivaldi was a well-known figure in 1700s Venice. In The Four Seasons he brings to life the dream of country life. Each part is a season described in music. In Spring three violins form a little bird chorus that is hushed to the whisper of a light breeze. Summer shimmers with heat, and flies buzz around both people and cattle. Autumn is the time for hunting and the grape harvest. Winter is the time of ice-cold winds in Venice. The Four Seasons was an immediate success and has fascinated listeners and inspired other composers ever since it was written in 1723. Together with the piano quintet, the solo violin portrays the characters of the different seasons in a colourful and dramatic way. AROUND A GRAND PIANO - A classical concert series consisting of soloists both with and without accompaniment. Programme: Vivaldi / The Four Seasons
