Luftforsvarets musikkorps was founded in 1818 and, as one of the Armed Forces' five professional bands, carries on a 200-year-old tradition of military music in Trøndelag. The band is based at Byscenen in Trondheim and has 27 full-time musicians and 5 in administration. They are the only professional band in Central Norway, but have the whole country as their working area. Each year the band gives around 150 performances, some as a full band and some as chamber ensembles. The assignments of Luftforsvarets musikkorps range from military duties and ceremonies to playing a wide variety of concerts. Luftforsvarets musikkorps is known for its flexibility, playfulness and versatility. The mantra is «No genre is unknown to us». They offer everything from mighty symphonic performances to daredevil humour and stage acts. They march with precision at international military tattoo shows and create their own concerts for children and the elderly. The band is an important partner for a number of festivals and institutions both nationally and regionally. It has a strong national profile and is, together with its sister bands, among Europe's leading military bands. Contact Tel: 72 40 10 15 Email: post@oppdalkulturhus.no Org.
