The Nutcracker – Classical Christmas Ballet with String Quartet

Description

Hall: Blå Grotte A world-class performance by Etoile Production The world-famous ballet The Nutcracker, performed by Ukrainian ballet stars, will be a magical Christmas gift for the whole family! A beautiful fairytale about the adventures of the young Clara and the Nutcracker Prince, full of exciting stories, was in 1892 transformed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky into the world's most popular classical ballet. Today The Nutcracker has become a global Christmas tradition, and this production is staged annually on theatre and opera stages around the world. The universal language of dance is understood without translation by any audience – the stage will present a coming-of-age story about children, revealing a young girl's fragile dream and the struggle between good and evil, in which love triumphs in the end. Dancing snowflakes, the Nutcracker Prince, toy soldiers and the Sugar Plum Fairy come to life in this magical family classic. Experience a fantastic adventure with the little girl Clara, who falls asleep on Christmas Eve. She meets her prince, faces a battle against enormous mice and rats, and is carried off to the lush Kingdom of Sweets. The story is much more than just a Christmas tale. It is a story about growing up, which is also reflected in the dance. Now it is time to sink into this magical world, forget worries and stress, remember the dreams of childhood and fill the soul with inspiration, warmth and new dreams. The ballet "The Nutcracker" is ideal as the first ballet children get to know. In addition to young spectators and adult ballet lovers, the ballet will definitely offer a feeling of admiration for beauty and fill everyone with Christmas spirit! The performance of Marius Petipa's classical choreography is performed by Etoile Production – a company organised in Kyiv by soloists from Ukraine's Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theatre, Irina and Anatoly Khandazhevsky. The performers include professional ballet dancers at the highest level – winners of international ballet competitions, Honoured Artists of Ukraine, soloists from Ukrainian and, since February 2022, European theatres. The company uses authentic, handmade theatre costumes and sets in its productions. The costumes are genuine professional ballet dress, carefully designed so as not to restrict the dancers' movements and to let them fully show their skill on stage. A professional theatre lighting designer accompanies the ballet performance and creates an unforgettable atmosphere during the show. The ballet is accompanied live by a string quartet, which gives the performance an intimate and warm Christmas atmosphere. The quartet performs on stage as part of the production and plays during key scenes, creating a close connection between music and dance. In addition, the performance uses a high-quality recording of the Kharkiv Opera Orchestra, which is combined with the live quartet to support the action on stage. This is a unique opportunity to see genuine classical ballet at the highest level, performed by the ballet stars of the world, with live music on stage. The tour is presented by the Norwegian organisation Kultur for Folket, a company that focuses on delivering high-qua
