Description
The song the world embraced An atmospheric classical Christmas concert where soprano Marit Kristine Risnes, cellist Olav Stener Olsen and Goedele Taveirne at the grand piano present the traditional and familiar Christmas songs in an acoustic format. «Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht» by Franz Gruber, the song that has embraced generations and still touches hearts all over the world, originated more than 200 years ago – in a village in Austria on Christmas Eve 1818. The organ in St. Nicolaus Church was out of order, and to create atmosphere during the evening mass, organist Gruber made a song that could be sung to a simple lute accompaniment. That is how the world premiere of the world's best-known Christmas song took place on Christmas Eve itself in Oberndorf. With Stille Natt, Hellige Natt – in Norwegian Glade Jul – and its origins as a framework, the professional performers present an atmospheric programme leading up to Christmas. The concert is a familiar and beloved Christmas tradition for audience and performers alike, where the "goosebump factor" is high.
