Aulaseriene
World-class chamber music.
Great concert experiences in Håkonshallen, the University Aulas in Bergen and Oslo and at the cultural destination Ramme.
Throughout the year you get concerts with performers of the very highest calibre, performed where chamber music belongs: in Universitetets aula in Oslo, at the Munch destination Ramme in Hvitsten and now also in Universitetsaulaen in Bergen.
We wish to lift the concerts into a multisensory expression, in which both space and art complement the music - and vice versa. The combination of art and music creates a unique setting for both performers and audience. Universitetets aula builds a natural bridge between the art forms, and it is a pleasure that we can now also welcome you to Aularommet at Ramme, which was built on the model of Edvard Munch's own drawings of Universitetets aula. Later his preparatory works for the well-known Aula decorations will also be exhibited here, and the connection between Ramme and Oslo will be completed. After its recent restoration, Universitetsaulaen in Bergen stands as one of the country's most beautiful - and perhaps best hidden - chamber music halls, with outstanding acoustics on a par with the Aulas in Oslo and at Ramme.
The annual season programme of the Aula series takes as its starting point a current theme or word that forms the basis for wider reflection in the experience of art. We shall delight, and at the same time challenge. The core of the chamber music repertoire shall be highlighted, and newly written works shall explore, take us further and put the musical heritage in perspective. Knowledge and statements about the music, the art and topical themes shall be communicated from the stage, both by the musicians and by presenters we know from public and cultural life. Together we shall let ourselves be engaged and inspired.
The meeting point between established artists and young performers is the source of great energy and excitement. We look forward to presenting the country's foremost chamber musicians in combination with international artists and Norwegian performers who are at the start of their careers. Music is a universal language, and it knows no age.
A big thank you goes to our important main supporters: Tom Wilhelmsens Stiftelse, Rammestiftelsen for Kunst, Kultur og Natur and Sparebankstiftelsen DNB. Thanks also to our other private and public contributors, who all help to make possible our national lift of chamber music.
