Christiania Strykekvartett
Christiania Strykekvartett is a newly established ensemble on original instruments consisting of Kati Debretzeni, Daniel Lyngstad, Mari Giske and Gunnar Hauge. With a broad background in historical performance practice, these four musicians explore the string quartet of the Classical period with the main emphasis on our own composers from the period, with the aim of once again making this music relevant to today's audience. The primarius Kati Debretzeni is best known as John Eliot Gardiner's concertmaster for the past 25 years. She is also concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and has made many recordings both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. She also teaches baroque violin at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Daniel Lyngstad works day to day as a violinist in the opera orchestra at Den Norske Opera & Ballett. Beyond this he has an active career as a baroque violinist in ensembles such as Barokkanerne and Orkester Nord, and as a sought-after chamber musician. The violist Mari Giske is passionate about developing the growing early music scene further, while regularly touring with other early music ensembles in Europe in a repertoire stretching from the early baroque to Romanticism. In 2021 she received Rolf Gammleng's honorary prize for performing artists for her work as an early music specialist, and in 2024 she received FFUK's Performer Scholarship. Gunnar Hauge has freelanced as a baroque cellist since 1998 and is Barokkanerne's regular principal cellist. He is also a regular guest with foreign ensembles such as Concerto Copenhagen and Arte del Suonatori, and is often heard as a soloist and chamber musician on viola da gamba.
