Woodpeckers Recorder Quartet is a dynamic group of musicians who all share the same passion for showcasing both old and new music. They met during their studies with Dan Laurin at Kungl. Musikhögskolan i Stockholm. After completing their diploma programmes they have continued to play together, and with roots in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Ireland, Woodpeckers have shown that they have something special to offer. Their repertoire stretches from the Middle Ages to today, with a fondness for Baroque music and newly written music. Their aim is to present the recorder in an entirely new context, and they therefore collaborate with talented young composers from Scandinavia and Europe to develop the recorder's repertoire and expressive possibilities. Woodpeckers have appeared at festivals such as Stockholm Early Music Festival and represented Scandinavia at the REMA Show case in Portugal, which was recorded by the TV channel Mezzo and broadcast on both TV and radio across Europe. All the members have also made their mark as winners and prizewinners at international competitions, and they perform regularly around the world. With the programme "Kvittrande Klanger" they have toured with school concerts around Sweden and Norway and inspired thousands of children. Photo: Anna-Julia Granberg
