Stavanger Kammermusikkfestival
10. aug. - 15. aug.
Stavanger
It is with great pleasure that we can finally announce this year's festival programme!
BRAHMS
We have previously revealed this year's juicy theme and that we are using the occasion to take a deep dive into Brahms's unique chamber music world. The theme became clear when the artistic directors Christian Ihle Hadland and Andreas Brantelid went through the programmes from the previous 11 years Christian has been in the artistic leadership - there they discovered that Brahms has been performed relatively little. So they chose Brahms as this year's theme - but then set in context: where did he come from, which composers did he study most thoroughly, how did he work, what were the strongest currents of the time and who supported and inspired him?
The pandemic the world is in means that this year's musicians, as in 2020, are a lovely and skilful bouquet from the Nordic region: Joachim Carr, Johan Dalene, Michael Grolid, Annabel Guaita, Sandra Lied Haga, Ragnhild Hemsing, Ann Helen Moen, Björn Nyman, Audun Sandvik, Marina Kan Selvik, Terje Skomedal, Marianne Thorsen, Lars Anders Tomter, Johannes Weisser, Opus 13, Norges Ungdomskor, Stavanger Symfoniorkester with Tianyi Lu, YogaLene with Terje, Bendicte, Wouter and Ilmari.
This year we have Lyttelos and the pianist Annabel Guaita with us; she will give the audience a different and exciting musical experience, in which you develop your ability to listen and become familiar with classical music in a completely different way than before.
As is tradition, we invite after-school clubs and kindergartens to two different children's performances, one in Stavanger and one in Sandnes. There will of course also be family performances over the festival weekend.
Richie Castro & Nina Børke together with Ingrid Hatleskog and Olav Stener Olsen present the performance «Vill.» at Sandnes kulturhus in collaboration with Regional Arena for Samtidsdans. Lars Kolstad and Annabel Guaita invite you to the performance «When Valen Dances», shown at Spor 5 in Stavanger, where the music of the composer Fartein Valen is in focus.
We are also continuing the tradition of the yoga concert, this time with YogaLene, and not least we look forward to a new collaboration with the city's own Stavanger symfoniorkester!
Stavanger Kammermusikkfestival 2021 takes place 10-15 August.
Last year's summer holiday in Norway whetted the appetite of many. If Stavanger was not on your itinerary then, we remind you that it is an exciting coastal town with fantastic surroundings such as fjord and sea, mountains, islands, white sandy beaches and the spectacular Lysefjorden with Preikestolen. The combination of unique natural experiences and world-class culture makes the region a very attractive destination.
We are striking a great blow for normality and planning for a wonderful festival when the late-summer sun casts its golden rays over the city of Stavanger.
A warm welcome to you all!
(Always with current infection control measures in place.)
