A FESTIVAL IN THE SPIRIT OF EGIL HOVLAND – FROM MOON AND SUN TO TWELVE-TONE MUSIC.
Being a music festival in the spirit of Egil Hovland obliges us to think big.
The festival's aim is to bring forward and make visible Egil Hovland's breadth and many compositions, challenge several art forms, look after the composer's spirit, and take the steps he took into our own time
The festival must be innovative, quality-conscious, ambitious and open to other art forms. We want the festival to have a good balance between Egil Hovland's own music, the music of related composers and other styles that embrace a broader audience. And it is to consciously include other art forms, such as dance, theatre, literature and visual art, and not least the festival is to take children seriously, because that too is in Hovland's spirit.
On All Saints' weekend 2013 we held the Egil Hovland festival for the first time.
