The tuba player August Schieldrop has won a number of prizes, been a soloist with orchestras and appeared on Lindmo on NRK. He is a critically acclaimed musician and fights to promote the tuba as a solo instrument. Here he shares concert tips and stories from the concerts in December.
We meet August where many Norwegian musicians have spent countless hours – in an upstairs room on the 5th floor of Norges Musikkhøgskole. He has just moved home to Oslo after eventful years in Copenhagen.
August shares some of his concert tips in the jungle of Christmas concerts, Nutcrackers and Messiahs, along with some good stories and his own concert experiences. Unfortunately there is no tuba part in Handel's Messiah, but he promises to step in if all the trumpeters in the whole of Norway fall ill!
Enjoy!
PS – click on the picture of August at each concert to read his stories and tips.
Or hear August tell it himself about some of the concerts on our Instagram or Facebook.
