Tromsø kulturhus
Erling Bangsunds plass 1, 9008 Tromsø
KulturHuset was officially opened on 14 January 1984. By then the town had been without a theatre and concert venue for nearly 15 years. In the spring of 1969 we lost our traditional grand hall and main stage when the old and venerable «Arbeidern» was lost in a catastrophic fire. The establishment of Hålogaland Teater in Tromsø (1971) made the question of a new grand hall topical.
The house is organised to be able to take both small and large events. The house has three stages: the Main stage, the small stage and Forum (the house's foyer). There is a gallery on the 2nd floor, where the audience entrances to the Main stage are. Verkstedet scene will be discontinued as a stage in the summer of 2019.
In the house we also find Café Sånn. The door between the Kulturhus's audience area and Café Sånn is opened when there is an event in the house. It is a nice place to meet before and after an event.
