For the fourth year in a row, Camerata Nordica rings in the new year with an evening full of warmth, humour and irresistible music. Once again the producer and presenter Urban Wedin takes the stage as cicerone and guides the audience through a programme full of surprises and many smiles.
This year the musical journey stretches far beyond Vienna. Alongside Johann Strauss's waltzes and marches, the programme draws inspiration from composers all over the world: Leroy Anderson's quiet humour, Franz Lehár's sweeping melodies, Tchaikovsky's brilliance and much more besides. Waltzes, marches and musical delicacies spanning continents and traditions – all performed with the energy and precision that a chamber ensemble made up of strings, oboe, clarinet, horn, flute, trumpet, trombone, harp and percussion has a quite unique ability to achieve.
And as befits a cherished tradition, the evening ends in the one and only right way: with On the Beautiful Blue Danube and the Radetzky March, where the audience is warmly encouraged to join in.
Happy New Year!
