Relaxed Performance: Epiphany Concert
Colin Scobie, ledare
Description
For the very first time we are offering a Relaxed Performance – a concert created so that everyone can enjoy it just as they are. The concert is adapted so that everyone feels welcome – families with children, people with disabilities, seniors and everyone else who is interested. Whether you find traditional concert etiquette limiting or simply prefer a more informal way of experiencing live music, this space is for you. It is perfectly fine to move around, make noise, dance or sing along during the concert. This is a judgement-free environment where everyone can experience the music on their own terms. If you need to step out for a while, that is no problem – the doors stay open throughout the concert so that you can come and go as you please. We have no numbered seats; you choose the place that feels best for you – a chair or the floor at the front, close to the musicians. We want you to feel at home! For 40 minutes you get to know all the orchestra's instrument families up close: violin, viola, cello and double bass, harp, oboe, clarinet, flute, bassoon, trumpet, trombone and percussion. The programme is full of fun and lively pieces taken from our New Year's concert repertoire: music that sparkles, surprises and brings smiles. It is a fantastic opportunity to fall in love with the orchestra – perhaps for the very first time. Companions and personal assistants have free admission, and the venue has both a lift and several wheelchair spaces. Our staff are on hand at the entrance and in the auditorium to help, support and answer questions.
