Dala Sinfonietta

Dalasinfoniettan is Dalarna's chamber orchestra, which with 28 full-time musicians gives concerts in Dalarna, Sweden and sometimes as far away as Sapporo and Tokyo. From autumn 2019 the chief conductor is Roberto González-Monjas, who is as sought-after a violinist as a conductor. Together with Alejandro Posada he started Iberacademy; an institution in Medellín, Colombia, with the aim of creating an effective and sustainable model for musical education. Roberto is also Artist in Residence for the Orquesta Sinfonica de Castilla y Leon. Dalasinfoniettan gladly collaborates with international soloists such as Janine Jansen and Evelyn Glennie and is not afraid to widen its musical horizons towards pop, folk music and jazz. Over the years Dalasinfoniettan has been the core of the opera orchestra at the large open-air arena Dalhalla in critically acclaimed productions. In autumn 2019 Dalasinfoniettan's own album is released, with music by Poulenc, Ligeti and Larsson Gothe under the direction of the departing chief conductor Daniel Blendulf. The album will be a resounding conclusion to his artistic development work with the orchestra. Dalasinfoniettan is also host orchestra for Vinterfest. The international chamber music festival has been developed by its artistic directors; first the clarinettist Martin Fröst, then the Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson.
