Svenska Kammarorkestern means world class With its unique musical language and its ambition to constantly push boundaries, Svenska Kammarorkestern, with chief conductor Thomas Dausgaard at the helm, has taken a self-evident place on the international stage. Svenska Kammarorkestern was founded in 1995 in Örebro with the ambition of becoming precisely Sweden's best. In autumn 1997 Thomas Dausgaard became chief conductor and set a demanding and ambitious plan in motion: to record all of Beethoven's orchestral works. It was during those recordings that the orchestra found its unique musical language and “sound” – many are surprised that such a small ensemble (39 people) can play so that it sounds like a whole symphony orchestra.
