Description

Somewhere between opera and musical lies the operetta genre, with everything it entails of merry and beautiful melodies and sweeping Viennese sounds. On the first day of November, OperetteKompagniet drops by and offers irresistible hits from both the Viennese archive and Denmark's own unique song treasury within the bubbling universe of three-four time. But that is not all. The audience will also hear music by one of the most popular opera composers, Giacomo Puccini - namely excerpts from La Rondine, which was Puccini's attempt at writing operetta music - inspired by his friend and operetta composer Franz Lehár. Soloists and pianist give a fine extract of the maestro's La Rondine - The Swallow. Star soprano Helle Gössler Christensen gives what is probably the most beautiful aria from the above-mentioned opus, but she is also a true virtuoso when it comes to Strauss and the other waltz kings. At her side is Marie Dreisig, who shines in the more lyrical repertoire, and whose diction in her mother tongue makes her ideal for our domestic cultural heritage. Jonathan Koppel has made his breakthrough both nationally and internationally with his golden tenor, and surely he can be persuaded to sing a single number with Koppel senior, alias Thomas Peter. The latter guides the audience through the proceedings, and he also presents the country's new hope in the baritone field, namely Asmus Hanke Frederiksen, who, despite great demand, takes over the café this afternoon like a latter-day Danilo. The incomparable Laurits Dragsted accompanies expertly.
