Concert with Gaudium - The Land of Dreams

Description

Gaudium invites you to an atmospheric concert experience, where dreams, memory and imagination frame a poetic and resonant programme. The focal point of the concert is newly written songs by Jesper Koch to texts by the English poet William Blake, written especially for Vokalensemblet Gaudium. Drawing on Blake's richly imagistic universe, the music moves between innocence and experience, light and darkness, life and death. From the great existential perspectives in 'Auguries of Innocence' to the touching dialogue between father and son in the concert's closing movement 'The Land of Dreams', a dreamland is portrayed where the boundaries between reality, memory and imagination flow together. We will also hear music by Joanna Marsh and Kerensa Briggs, and as a special feature 'Dreamland' by the choir's conductor Gustav Lundgaard Seistrup, with text by Christina Rossetti, receives its world premiere. Vokalensemblet Gaudium is a classical mixed choir with currently 28 young singers who since 2020 have been led by composer and conductor Gustav Lundgaard Seistrup. Admission is free. Programme: Jesper Koch / The Land of Dreams (songs to texts by William Blake) Gustav Lundgaard Seistrup / Dreamland (world premiere)
