The musician and composer John Dowland (1563-1626) was one of the few who became very famous in Europe for his compositions already in his own time. Some of his most productive years took place while he was staying in Copenhagen and was employed in Christian IV's royal chapel. His works are still much played, and Trinitatis Kirke marks the 400th anniversary of his death with a Friday concert in the All Saints' season. Here Dowland's music is set against music by the contemporary composer Thomas Morley, including the 4-part choral work ”Sentences for the Burial of the Dead”, as well as music by Heinrich Schütz, Mogens Pedersøn, Dowland and Marenzio.
