Description
Why go to a concert on Black Friday? BACH Friday is a good offer for spiritual fulfilment. Few other places offer music of such high quality at such a good price. The concert also gives you a break from the shopping frenzy. You sit down, are flooded with heavenly music, enjoy a glass of wine after the concert and go back out into the world recharged. In classical music, the German Johann Sebastian Bach is simply impossible to get around. Bach's high standing is due above all to his thoroughness and his uncompromising nature. Much of Bach's music was written for use in church at Christmas, Easter and ordinary Sundays. His uncompromising nature is found in his use of number symbolism: the name Bach can be written with the numbers 2138, and in one of his most famous works there are exactly 2135 bars. He wrote six Brandenburg Concertos, six motets, six partitas and six English and French suites - the number six can be reduced to three, the number symbol of the divine Trinity. Bach was a dinosaur in his own time, but went on writing in an older style in order to exhaust the possibilities within particular styles. You probably already know Bach's music. He wrote some of the most catchy pieces and melodies, and it is those that are played at the concert.
