The Nutcracker
Dirigent: Christian Øland
Description
The critically acclaimed Christmas ballet returns at Christmas 2026. The Christmas story of the Nutcracker is a true classic, brimming with fairy-tale wonder and magic for young and old. Tivoli's classical family ballet takes place on Christmas Eve 1874 somewhere in Copenhagen. Clara's family has invited prominent guests to dinner, and Clara receives a nutcracker as a Christmas present. After an eventful evening Clara falls asleep and sets off on a fairy-tale and perilous dream journey. Through storm and snow she steps into a snow-covered Tivoli, which magically transforms into a summer-warm fairy-tale garden full of dance and music, accompanied by Harlequin, Columbine, Pierrot and the nutcracker, who has been brought to life. Queen Margrethe has created the scenography and costumes, and Tivoli's ballet director Peter Bo Bendixen has created the choreography. The music is provided by Tivoli Copenhagen Phil, who fill Tivolis Koncertsal with Tchaikovsky's music. The performance is recommended from age 6. Programme: Tchaikovsky / The Nutcracker
