Kompagni B has done it again! The theatre's young dancers have created their own performance full of energy and creativity. Kompagni B consists of pupils in years 8 and 9 from Det Kongelige Teaters Balletskole and is the world's first professional ballet company for, with and by children. The young dancers have created this year's Breakfast with Bournonville, in which they tackle themes that matter to them and their peers. In the performance the young dancers blend their classical ballet technique with burgeoning choreographic creativity. Together with the theatre's lighting, sound, video and costume departments, Kompagni B has once again created a sensuous, energetic performance. Breakfast with Bournonville opens the theatre up to a new generation of audience, and is created especially for Kompagni B's peers in years 7, 8 and 9. Please note that tickets for this performance are free, but can only be booked by schools and educational institutions. The purpose of Kompagni B's work is to open up the classical art form and offer space for reflection and sensory experience, at eye level with their peer audience. In the creative process the young dancers have been challenged to explore and expand their skills in performance dramaturgy, choreographic composition and movement expression, so that they can communicate to the audience what they have on their minds. We hope that an encounter with Kompagni B will give the pupils in the audience a sense of ballet as a living art form and style. Kompagni B is looking forward to taking over Gamle Scene and seeing all their peers in the auditorium for a production full of dance, video and music.
