Christmas Concert - Unge Akademikeres Kor

Description

UAK is a classical chamber choir that sings a varied repertoire - with a fondness for recent Nordic music. UAK originally stood for "Unge Akademikeres Kor" (Young Academics’ Choir), but today the choir consists of both more and less academic singers aged 20-50. UAK was founded by Svend G. Asmussen in 1944, and in 2004 the choir was able to celebrate its 60th anniversary as one of Denmark’s oldest choirs. In 1944 the choir wrote down that part of its purpose was to spread knowledge of recent Danish and Nordic choral music. UAK’s CD "Lige før forår" thus had its origin in a Nordic composer competition, which UAK held with great success in 1999. UAK has given concerts all over Denmark and has toured many countries over the years.
