Handel: Messiah I + II

Description

Sct. Mikkels Kirke presents a new performance of George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" (Parts I+II), conducted by the church's organist and cantor Martin Legène Jensen. There is an international line-up of soloists and orchestra, using period instruments to ensure an authentic sound. Sjølund Kammerkor and a Sct. Mikkels Kantori expanded for the occasion will sing. The orchestra is assembled by, and plays under the direction of, concertmaster Alison Luthmers. Handel composed the work in only 24 days in 1741, and it was first performed in Dublin in 1742. The text consists of extracts from the King James Bible and the Coverdale Psalter, compiled by Charles Jennens. Tickets at a single price of 200,- kr. PLEASE NOTE: there is limited visibility from some seats. Seats are unnumbered, and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 15.15
