Lucia Concert in Gudhjem Kirke

Description

Experience the atmospheric Lucia concert with traditional singing. On Lucia Day, 13 December, there are Lucia concerts in the Østerlars-Gudhjem pastorate, at 17.00 in Gudhjem Kirke and at 18.30 in Østerlars Kirke. In Sweden the celebration of Lucia is a very important part of the first half of Advent. The Youth Choir and the Women's Choir sing two concerts, as the churches of the pastorate are not very large. This makes room for more people to experience the Lucia celebration. The procession comes in singing and takes its place for the concert, which lasts approx. 45 min. The songs are classic Lucia and Christmas songs and congregational hymns, sung in both Danish and Swedish. The Lucia legend is about continuing to spread light even when things look dark. The Lucia procession will also spread light at the care home Klippebo on 9 December at 17.00 with a procession and a short concert. Free admission.
