Description

In January and February 2027, Danmarks Underholdningsorkester pays tribute to the music of one of the country's greatest artists and composers, as the orchestra tours the country with the songs from Kim Larsen's impressive catalogue and career. A unique, shared treasury of songs that continues to bind generations together. ”Kim Larsen's songs have in a rare way written themselves into our shared language - and done so with both humour and seriousness,” begins John Frandsen, director of Danmarks Underholdningsorkester. ”It says almost everything that 'Om lidt' has over the years become one of the most used farewell songs in Denmark and has even found its way into both the Folk High School Songbook and the Church Songbook. It is precisely the power of the songs, together with the resonance and connectedness, that we take as our starting point when we lift Kim Larsen's lyrics and melodies into a symphonic universe.” It is with the back catalogue from Kim Larsen's impressive solo career that Danmarks Underholdningsorkester tours the country in the winter of 2027. And with a treasury of songs that spans widely - from the legendary debut LP 'Værsgo' from 1973 to the iconic 'Midt Om Natten' and 'Forklædt Som Voksen' of the 80s, and on to almost 25 years of critically acclaimed gold records in the company of Kjukken - this is in every way a uniquely broad cross-section of Danish music history, which the evening's soloists get the chance to unfold and interpret anew. The concert run is joined by these strong Danish voices: Jesper Binzer (D-A-D), Sofie Dopha, Mathias Ranch and Caroline Henderson.
