Description
Music that is impossible not to love: experience music with spark, spirit and, not least, humour. We have selected four works by composers from the 19th century who refuse to be boring. Poulenc and Martinu play with the music and, not least, with our expectations of it, Dohnányi embraces beauty and the cinematic expression, and Eisler brings the magic of circus life into the concert hall as he transforms the music of the ring into unpretentious and, frankly, fun music. Together, the works open the door ajar and reveal a glimpse of the glittering, the extraordinary and the entertaining. In other words: a shot of much-needed musical energy - in the middle of January's grey everyday life.
