New Year's Concert with Lyngby-Taarbæk Symfoniorkester

At this year's New Year's concert, LTSO takes you on a journey through 400 years of classical music. The host of the concert is Jakob Weber, known from the Classical Music Quiz on DR, who will guide us through the music in a festive and entertaining way. Leading the orchestra is Christian Schmiedescamp. Music created before Romanticism in the early 1800s - the Renaissance, the Baroque and the Viennese Classical period - is often sparsely represented in symphony orchestras' repertoire, because it usually brings only selected groups of a modern symphony orchestra into play. We remedy that at this year's New Year's concert, which embraces compositions from widely different periods and genres. The idea of the concert is to present gems of music history that are both characteristic and interesting in themselves. But which are also presented in a way that lets us hear the development of music through the centuries. And also experience how differently music has been used: as entertainment, for dancing, in connection with film and of course also as art in its own right. The carefully selected works will be new to some, while others are well known and have classic status. There will also be examples of music that sounds modern - either because it stands almost untouched by the ravages of time, or because it was composed recently. Welcome to a festive New Year's concert with a rustle of music-historical wings.
