Description
This evening's concert offers an unusual combination of instruments: violin, trumpet and piano. The violinist Yana Deshkova is a familiar face to Aalborg concertgoers. She began playing the violin at the age of 4, immediately became a child star in her native Bulgaria, and appeared as a soloist in front of an orchestra for the first time at just 8. After studies at the Guildhall in London, and later in Essen and Stuttgart, she won the Italian Lipizer Competition and the Bulgarian Vladigerov Competition (twice). Since 2004 she has been 1st concertmaster of Aalborg Symfoniorkester. She has appeared as a soloist with the ASO many times, and by now also with most Bulgarian symphony orchestras. Alongside her work in the ASO, we know her as an extremely busy chamber musician in all sorts of settings. The Swedish trumpeter Per Ivarsson studied in his home town of Malmö, and then in Karlsruhe with, among others, Professor Reinhold Friedrich. He first won a position in Malmö Symfoniorkester, and since 2011 he has been 1st solo trumpeter of Göteborgs Symfoniorkester. In 2014 he became a teacher at the conservatory in Gothenburg, and he has given trumpet masterclasses in Lithuania, Spain, Portugal and Norway. He often appears as a soloist, both with his own and other orchestras, and his solo repertoire is wide-ranging: from the Baroque to French composers such as Jolivet and Tomasi, and the Swedes Rolf Martinsson and Jan Sandström. Besides guest appearances with most Swedish orchestras, he has played with acclaimed ensembles such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Klangforum Wien. The pianist Christopher Park comes from Bamberg in Germany. His piano teachers include representatives of both the Russian and the German piano traditions. His career took off in 2014, when he made his debut at the Musikverein in Vienna, and the year after he was nominated by Wienerfilharmonikerne for the prestigious Credit Suisse Award. Since then he has given concerts in Europe, Asia, America and New Zealand, often at major festivals such as Lucerne, Ravinia and Schleswig-Holstein. He was chosen as an ECHO "Rising Star" and in that connection had the opportunity to give concerts in many of the very greatest halls in Europe. For example, he had the honour of being the very first piano soloist in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. On record he is represented both as a soloist and as an accompanist on major labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Oehms Classics, Ondine and Capriccio - recordings that have received lots of press praise and attention. Since 2021 he has also been a professor of piano at the conservatory in Oslo.
