Den klassiske serie: Music from Austria-Hungary
Description
NB: There is a warm-up talk at 19.00 before the concert.
This concert takes us back to the days of the Habsburg Empire, a kaleidoscope of many languages and cultures, all of which influenced one another both in life and in art.
Joseph Haydn's piano trio, also known as the "Gypsy," was influenced by both Croatian and Hungarian so-called Gypsy music, while Dvořák and Dohnányi each championed their own traditions within Czech and Hungarian music respectively.
Amon, an outsider in this context, was born in Bavaria but had close ties to both Haydn and Mozart.
The programme brings both major works by great composers and forgotten gems in instrument combinations that are both traditional and unique, as well as a brand-new arrangement by the ensemble's own oboist, Peter Kirstein.
