Den klassiske serie: Mozart and friends

Description

NB: There is a warm-up talk at 19.00 before the concert. In our wind quintet project, we invite the audience to an imaginary dinner party hosted by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which two (almost) contemporary composers also attend. After the invitations have been sent out via music borrowed from one of the most famous Mozart operas, "The Marriage of Figaro," the guests bring their own calling cards: Ligeti's "Ten Pieces" was written to highlight the virtuosity of all five instruments, both individually and in ensemble, while showcasing the composer's eccentric, kaleidoscopic style. Vasks's quintet (like many of Vasks's chamber works) speaks up for his love of nature and his campaigning for environmental causes. As a grand finale, the master himself offers a major work, his serenade (originally for wind octet), which brings charm and playfulness to a wonderful evening.
