Opera mellem Himmel og Hav
15. jun. - 10. aug.
København
For many years I have had a dream of combining two things I am passionate about: opera and sailing.
I have always been convinced that at some point I would unite these two things. Since I was a boy I have been very interested in sailing, so it was natural for me to think along these lines. When I brought the project idea up in my opera ensemble guidOpera, it struck a chord with several of the opera singers in the company, who, like me, are very fond of sailing. Over the last 12 years we have performed many of the well-known operas in chamber versions, around Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Germany.
It is a natural consequence to use these many years of experience as the basis for the project, so that the combination of opera and sailing can now be brought to life. I now look forward to bringing opera to harbour towns and islands in Denmark, where people may not so often encounter this art form.
Our Finnish-built sailing boat can hold most of the usual ensemble, which has toured the theatre associations in Denmark for many years. That is why the association Opera mellem Himmel og Hav was formed.
