Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter
7. aug. - 28. aug.
Vedbæk
Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter was founded because I felt that musical life was lacking the kind of concerts we put on.
As a student at Det Kgl. Danske Musikkonservatorium I had often heard the same violin concerto more or less in unison from several practice rooms when I went up to ”Siberia”, which was the name of the strings' area on the attic floor. Although it was indisputably good music, it could get a little tiring in the long run. And that puzzled me, because as a violinist you are privileged to have tons of music from many different countries and centuries. So why play such a narrow repertoire?
That became the gateway to my interest both in new music and in going on a treasure hunt among lesser-known classical composers.
At Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter we make room for the famous classics, for new music and for the lesser-known classical composers. This means that at our concerts you can typically experience something you know, something that surprises you, and something that challenges you.
It also makes demands of our artists. They must not only be top class on their instrument, but also have the courage to take on challenges and a personal take on an innovative concert.
Over the years we have presented music from 800 years with musicians from more than 35 countries. Works have also been written for the festival that have already been played in other countries. In this way I hope that Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter can both bring joy here and now to our audience, whet their curiosity - and at the same time help ensure that there is good music from the 21st century to listen to in 200-300 years.
Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter 2022 is realised with the generous support of William Demant Fonden, Rudersdal Kommune, Dronning Margrethes og Prins Henriks Fond, Knud Højgaards Fond, Augustinus Fonden, Tømmerhandler Johannes Fogs Fond, Koda Kultur, Hoffmann og Husmans Fond, Nordea-fonden and Solistforeningen af 1921.
