Aarhus Symfoniske Orgelfestival At Aarhus Symfoniske Orgelfestival you can hear the organ in both the church and the concert hall – and experience some of Europe's best organists. The queen of instruments is shown off from every angle, and there is no end to the musical organ experiences. In November 2022 we hold the festival for the seventh time since it was created in a collaboration between Aarhus Symfoniorkester, Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium, Aarhus Domkirke, Vor Frue Kirke, Helligåndskirken and finally Sct. Pauls Kirke. This year's opening concert will be a tremendous concert with music by Tchaikovsky and Liszt. The virtuoso and charismatic Christian Schmitt is soloist in Liszt's monumental “Fantasia and Fugue on the chorale ‘Ad nos, ad salutarem undam’” – wild, angular and deeply fascinating music, brought to life in a collaboration with Aarhus Symfoniorkester. In addition we repeat the sensational concert from the last festival, namely a vividly alive concert with possibly the most famous organist in world history, the late Edwin Henry Lemare. We can also present one of Germany's foremost organists, Michael Schönheit. Samuel Kummer is the regular organist at the Frauenkirche in Dresden, and he is also an outstanding improviser on the organ and has won 1st prize at “Concours L’Europe et L’Orgue” in Maastricht. In Vor Frue Kirke you can meet the Norwegian Anders Eidsten Dahl, and the Finn Markku Mäkinen is a guest at Skt. Lukas Kirke. In Aarhus Domkirke you can experience the Canadian Isabelle Demers, whose virtuoso technique and the fact that she plays all her concerts from memory put her in a league of her own. You can also meet all the people, men and women, behind the festival, who have arranged to meet in Helligåndskirken for the concert “6 organister spiller ud”. One of the recurring events is a concert with Randers Kammerorkester, which continues its collaboration with Ulrik Spang-Hanssen, professor of organ at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium. We also offer a concert with Ensemble 1585, High Mass in Aarhus Domkirke – and the traditional family concert. We look forward to seeing you for organ-filled days in November!
