WELCOME! Aarhus Kammermusikfestival began back in 2019 and was created by young, passionate musicians with ties to Aarhus's music scene. The festival's vision is to bring classical chamber music to a broad audience in Aarhus with a fresh and youthful expression. In 2024 the festival takes place for the sixth year in a row, with audiences able to experience, over three days, leading international artists playing together with some of the country's best young musicians. Every year we present different concert formats not normally seen at other festivals. This year we receive visits from, among others, Nighingale String Quartet, Zach Hather, Mathias Kjøller, Gustav Piekut, Jonathan Swensen, Michael Germer and many more. The festival takes place in the heart of Aarhus and is organised in collaboration with Musikhuset Aarhus and Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium. We look forward to seeing you! About Aarhus Kammermusikfestival Aarhus Kammermusikfestival arose in 2019 out of a burning desire to bring top-class classical chamber music to Aarhus. The initiator was the pianist Tony Nguyen, who grew up in Aarhus himself and therefore wanted to give something back to his beloved home town. In 2022 Aarhus Kammermusikfestival takes place for the fourth time, and the festival has cemented itself as one of the leading chamber music festivals in Denmark, at an extremely high level. Leading international artists meet and play with the best young Danish musicians in intense rehearsal periods where musical perfection is paramount. In addition, the festival is visited every year by a number of regular top international ensembles, which have previously included Trio con Brio, David Oistrakh Quartet and Quatuor Arod, among others. Every year a new world premiere is on the programme – these have previously been composed by Matias Vestergård Hansen and Lil Lacy, among others. The festival also wishes to stimulate the musical talent pool in Aarhus, which is why every year it initiates collaborations with Aarhus Musikskole and Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium. Pupils from these are paired with a number of the festival musicians, and get the chance at a concert to present the result of an educational rehearsal period. Behind Aarhus Kammermusikfestival stands a team of passionate musicians, each with their own unique background, who are committed to spreading awareness of classical music – especially chamber music – and who are passionate about bringing culture to Aarhus.
