Welcome to Aarhus Symfoniske Orgelfestival 2024! We are delighted to welcome you to the eighth edition of Aarhus Symfoniske Orgelfestival. We have gone to extra trouble to present an exciting selection of the best in international organ playing today. The official opening concert naturally features Aarhus Symfoni orkester, this time together with the organist Iveta Apkalna, who is, among much else, titular organist at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. The programme includes the Finnish composer EsaPekka Salonen's Sinfonia Concertante, which was premiered with great success last year. In addition, the festival offers a long list of soloists from many countries, and there is a chance to experience the rare combination of organ and xun (yes, you will have to go there to see what that is!) – and the board, as always, steps into character itself with a performance of Bach's concerto for 4 harpsichords, but now for four organs. Ensemble 1585 plays a concert with music by the oddballs of the Baroque in Helsingør Theater in Den Gamle By. This time we offer no fewer than two masterclasses, in Symfonisk Sal and in Skt. Johannes Kirke, and finally the younger generations are not forgotten either: as always we welcome you to the large-scale family concert on Sunday afternoon, where you can meet Peter and the Wolf, ballet children from Ballet Akademiet, Aarhus Pigekor – and narrator and organist Jonas Hellesøe
