Welcome to Rued Langgaard Festival 2026
In 2026 Rued Langgaard Festival focuses on Sweden through music by Elfrida Andrée, Ture Rangström and Rued Langgaard.
Rued Langgaard Festival 2026 offers no less than 2 orchestral concerts, 3 symphonies by Rued Langgaard and immersion in the Swedish music of the composers Ture Rangström and Elfrida Andrée.
Rued Langgaard Festival 2026 has Sweden as its theme. With a focus on Swedish music and culture, music is presented by the composers Ture Rangström, Elfrida Andrée and Rued Langgaard, who in three of his symphonies was inspired by Sweden.
With Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, conducted by Thomas Dausgaard, and Helsingborg Symfoniorkester with the star soprano Christina Nilsson, the symphonic music in Ribe will be fired up.
Nightingale String Quartet also comes in 2026 and plays two of Langgaard's quartets linked to the house Rosengården in Kyrkhult in Blekinge, where Langgaard spent his summers. The quartet will also perform a new string quartet by Thomas Agerfeldt Olesen, who has been inspired by some of the themes that connect Rued Langgaard with his great love, Dora From.
Dora returns in the music performance 'Sommeren 1913', which is being staged again in an extended version with Esbjerg Ensemble in Sct. Catharinæ Kirke.
In addition, the festival continues out into nature, when you can experience a musical staging of the heathland Tange Bakker just outside Ribe. Here folk and jazz musicians will interpret Rued Langgaard's piano classic 'Sommerferie i Blekinge'.
Again this year you can also buy meal tickets at Ribe Pakhus, which makes reinterpretations of Langgaard's favourite dishes – inspired, among other things, by Sweden.
So experience Swedish music and culture in Ribe and look forward to hearing some of the country's best musicians and artists perform four days of music, readings and artistic experiences from 3-6 September 2026.
We look forward to seeing you!
