Copenhagen Baroque Festival
4. sep. - 8. sep.
København
When we listen to music, we often imagine pictures and stories before the inner eye. The music sets us free in the play between reality and fantasy. But how do we listen, what catches the ear and how do we find our way to the stories?
With this year's theme ’Musical Stories’ we want to invite you to let your imagination run free and create your own fantastic tales along the way through the music. Some of the concerts will be accompanied by text readings, which together with the music help create associations and inspiration, and which we hope will bring the listener right into their own private world between reality and fantasy.
Copenhagen Baroque Festival takes place in September in the inner city of Copenhagen and welcomes you to very special concert experiences with Danish and international baroque musicians. All the concert venues are historic and beautiful spaces in the city, which complement the music in the most beautiful way, and we look forward to welcoming you into Riddersalen at Rosenborg Slot, into Rundetaarn's Library Hall, into the impressive Trinitatis Kirke, Vor Frelser Kirke with its beautiful spire and Reformert Kirke, which many people pass daily but seldom enter.
Go exploring in the programme, which contains magnificent orchestral and choral concerts, intimate solo concerts, music devotions and much more.
The festival was started and is run by the solo recorder player Bolette Roed. The initiative sprang from a love of baroque music and a wish to create meetings between different musicians, ensembles and soloists across national borders and generations, and to let the music blossom in new constellations. The festival has a long-standing collaboration with Arte dei Suonatori, one of the first baroque orchestras in Poland, who play with a very special soul, sound and nerve. To this are invited soloists, choirs and various ensembles, and each year the festival's programme is put together on the basis of a larger theme.
Copenhagen Baroque Festival takes place on 4-8 September 2024 in Trinitatis Kirke, Rundetaarn, Rosenborg Slot, Vor Frelser Kirke and Reformert Kirke. Come and experience the loveliest baroque concerts in Copenhagen!
