KLANG – Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival
9. jun. - 18. jun.
København
At the start of the year KLANG - Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival moved into the new venue Musikhuset København on Vesterbrogade. The old mansion is waiting for a loving renovation, and in the meantime it is a fantastic place to be for us, with room for exciting concerts, experiments, cosy communal dining and talks. We also pop over to our neighbour, the cinema Vester Vov Vov, where the KLANG film has its premiere.
This year several of the premieres shed new light on the presence of women in the world and in art. Some of our most exciting composers, such as Line Tjørnhøj, Mette Nielsen, Marcela Lucatelli and Hugi Gudmundsson, have written works that put women at the centre as bodies, creators, leaders and individuals. Read more in the focus New Prisms.
In addition you can meet KLANG all around the city - for example at Takkelloftet, where we have two performances of Simon Steen-Andersen's wild new performance work Walk the Walk for percussionists on treadmills; in Diamanten for the traditional opening concert with Athelas Sinfonietta; in Stærekassen, where Livgarden performs Jacob Kirkegaard's frighteningly beautiful new work about the sounds of war; and in Tivoli, where Ekkozone pays tribute to the great master Iannis Xenakis, who would have turned 100 this year. At VOLUME Line Tjørnhøj serves her dining ritual, and in DR's Studio 2 live drawing, dance and music create a unique musical and visual experience.
Last but not least, our children's festival KLANG i KU.BE has had a growth spurt and now runs over three whole days, 10 - 12 June. The concerts for and by children and young people are a lovely and wild encounter with modern contemporary music at floor level, for all age groups.
Welcome to KLANG 2022.
