Haarby Kirke
Algade 89B, Haarby
Haarby Church is a church in Haarby on Funen. Like most Danish village churches it dates from the great church-building period 1150–1250, but the exact year is not known. It is assumed that there was a church on the site earlier, as remains of woodwork have been found under the foundation by the chancel. Because of decay and extensions only the nave and the chancel remain of the original church. Major restoration work in recent times took place in 1856, 1938 and most recently in 1975-76. Haarby kirke is known, among other things, as the largest village church on Funen. Since 1982 Pastor Svend A. Jacobsen (b. 1947) (Hårby parish) has, among other things, held services in this church.
