Helsingør Theater (Den Gamle By)

As the theatre stands today, it is Denmark's oldest stage preserved in its original form. The atmospheric theatre from 1817 originally stood on the corner of Bjergegade and Groskenstræde in Helsingør.
From the start, Den Gamle By wanted Helsingør Theater to be a living theatre, where audiences would sense the mood and atmosphere that the citizens of the 1800s experienced when they went to the theatre.
So today Den Gamle By rents out Helsingør Theater for cultural events.
The theatre provides the setting for a number of classical concerts, plays and opera performances. Companies also hold conferences and meetings here. The public have access to Helsingør Theater during performances and special guided tours.
