Højelsevej 10A, Lille Skensved

Go to website
Højelse Kirke stands south of Lille Skensved, not far from Køge. The church has stood there since the middle of the 12th century, from which a remnant still survives. In the church there are some wall paintings from about 1450. Like so many other churches, Højelse Kirke was built over several periods. The oldest part (the middle of the nave) was built about 1150. About 1450 the nave was extended and the wall paintings were probably made at the same time. The first part of the tower was built about 1350, but was not raised to its present height until the year 1500. Source: Wikipedia (Højelse Kirke)
