Randers Kunstmuseum is a self-governing institution and a state-recognised art museum founded in 1887. The museum holds one of the country's broadest collections of Danish visual art from c. 1800 to the present. Since 1969 the museum has been housed in Kulturhuset in the centre of Randers. The museum's collection of Danish and foreign art from the 1800s and 1900s consists of c. 4,000 individual works, including several major works by C.W. Eckersberg, Vilhelm Kyhn, Michael and Anna Ancher, Christen Købke, Vilhelm Hammershøi, L.A. Ring (Sommerdag ved Roskilde Fjord, 1900, which is included in the Kulturkanonen), Richard Mortensen and the COBRA artists.
