The first sods were turned to create a youth church for 18-30 year olds in Aarhus in 2009, and in 2013 UngK's first priest was appointed. Ever since, we have worked on creating what we know as UngK today, namely a different version of the national church, where we have swapped the pews for sofas and yoga mats, where instead of services you can come for alternatives to services, reflection, concerts, folk high school singing, communal meals and much more, and where you are always welcome to drop by for a cup of coffee or a cold beer or soft drink. UngK is part of the Church of Denmark, but your religious beliefs are your own - and you are warmly welcome regardless of whether you have a faith or not. UngK provides the framework for many different kinds of events. All our events, communities and collaborations are shaped by our four overall visions, which are about: UngK is a church where you are welcome regardless of your religious beliefs, and where we strive for everyone to feel welcome. UngK wants to show an alternative version of the national church, and show what it can offer We stand by the challenging sides of life, so that no one feels left out or wrong in the community. UngK is happy to collaborate, and we want to create a youth culture where it is fine to fail. This means that we focus on the process and not so much the result. At UngK you can experience many different kinds of activities: concerts, TALKS, One Day Festival, linocut printing, a knitting club and much more. You can always come to events at UngK and know that they are created out of our visions and with the thought that the inclusive community and meeting others are paramount.
